The mission of the Christian Education Department of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is to promote and supervise Christian training that fosters the development of credible, committed Christian disciples. Through Biblically-based, doctrinally sound, innovative and relevant education, training and worship, the Department works collaboratively with the Board of Christian Education to disciple the entire membership of the denomination.
MISSIONARY SOCIETY
Mt. Olive’s local department of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society (WHOMS). Our mission is to promote growth in the knowledge and understanding of God and His plan of redemption for the world, as revealed through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
SENIOR MINISTRY
The Senior Ministry is an outreach ministry of the Christian Education Department. As mature Christians, we are called to keep the faith. Our ministry is full of active and vibrant seniors who are keeping the faith, building a legacy of faith to pass on, and caring deeply for those around them who are finishing the race. With day trips, fitness classes, homebound visitations, and active participation in the whole life of the church, a senior can find a place to nurture and be nurtured.
Health Ministry is an outreach ministry of the Christian Education Department. It provides the church with a foundation for integrating health awareness messages, healthy living prevention tips, and powerful engagement sessions/activities – all based on the Word of God through health education, prevention, and awareness. The purpose is to help equip members with Christ-centered education to ensure they understand that health is as an integral part of serving God. As the church family is united in the ministry of the body as well as the spirit, we are then prepared to dramatically improve the health outlook, attitudes, and well-being of our congregation and the communities we serve.
youth ministry
The Mt. Olive Youth Ministry, an outreach of our Christian Education Department, is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual growth, leadership, fellowship, and development of our children and youth. Through worship, Christian education, service, fellowship, and engaging activities, we encourage young people to grow in their relationship with Christ, discover their gifts, and become active participants in the life of the church and community.
class leaders
Class Leaders help the pastor, pastor the congregation by advising, counseling, correcting, encouraging, and watching over the souls of class members in love.
The Mt. Olive Blessing Box, sponsored by our Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society (WH&OMS) – Bureau of Supply, is a ministry of love and service created to help meet everyday needs within our church and surrounding community.
Stocked with nonperishable food and essential items, the Blessing Box is available for anyone who may need a little extra support. Take what you need and, when you are able, give what you can. Through this ministry, we seek to put our faith into action by sharing God’s blessings with our neighbors.
